    Hey Chris...knew your parents when we were in Kinshasa serving with MAF. Of course we have known Dr Paul since he was about 4 yrs old & worked with his parents, David & Leveda at Lodja in the early 80s as well as Paul & Marty Law. My husband, Paul Rule, has been to Lodja the last 2 years in March to do the annual on P Law's airplane so we are also in touch with Dr Paul. Praying for your trip to Congo in January.❤

We had never seen a "bush plane" that big land at our little grass airstrip before! Anyway, thank you so much for your kind comment, and thoughtful prayers. I hope you'll share the video link with your community and help us spread the word. We're humbled and excited to be able to do this for Dr. Paul!!!

    As a chain wears, it develops tight spots. You can check it in one position and tension would be fine, rotate the wheel half a turn and it would be too tight. Therefore, this tool still needs to be positioned when the chain is at its tightest spot and you have to find that spot using your fingers. 🤷🏻

    • @MotoPhotoAdventures
      @MotoPhotoAdventures 5 годин тому

      Well it's not perfect. But we still think it's a helpful device. Most of the time you can visually locate the tighter spot in the chain by just rolling the bike forward.

    Thanks so much for this video, great info! I bought this unit and going to install tomorrow feeling much more confident! Only question I still have is you posi tapped a 5 amp acc fuse but my bike has nothing below 7.5 it seems. If I tap my headlight fuse as well will this matter?

    • @MotoPhotoAdventures
      @MotoPhotoAdventures 8 днів тому

      If you're installing a Garmin Zumo device, it shouldn't matter at all. You'll notice there's a circuit box that comes with the wires for your Zumo. That box will take whatever voltage you give it (within reason), and send the correct amount of power to the unit.

    • @JonCohen-q7e
      @JonCohen-q7e 8 днів тому

      @@MotoPhotoAdventures thanks for the response! I’m installing the Vantrue F1 dashcam, do you know if this unit will also do that?

    • @MotoPhotoAdventures
      @MotoPhotoAdventures 8 днів тому

      @@JonCohen-q7e ahhh...my sincere apologies! I was responding to a number of questions on our channel and mistakenly thought I was replying to a comment on a video where we installed a Garmin Zumo GPS using a similar connection. Anyway, YES!!! The Vantrue F1 works the same way. You will connect the +/- leads to the battery. The accessory lead can be connected to any "switched" power. It doesn't matter if it's 5 amp, 7.5 amp, 15 amp, etc. All this wire does is tell the "brain" of the unit to power up the system. When it does so, it draws the power from the +/- connections. I hope this helps! Bottom line is, you shouldn't have any problems connecting to your headlight fuse.

    • @JonCohen-q7e
      @JonCohen-q7e 8 днів тому

      @@MotoPhotoAdventures amazing thank you! One more question there , each fuse has two wires going to it. Are they different polarity, does it matter which wire you tap?

    • @MotoPhotoAdventures
      @MotoPhotoAdventures 7 днів тому

      @@JonCohen-q7e I'm not sure I understand. But if I do, they will both work. One side is from the bike to the fuse block...the other side is from the fuse block to the accessory (headlight in your case). You'll want to use the side leading to the accessory so that the fuse still protects the bike. If unsure which is which, remove the fuse. The side that doesn't go "live" when you turn the ignition on is the correct side. Plug the fuse back in and now it will go "live" when you turn the ignition on. Tap into the wire on that side and you're good to go.

    Hey mate, im stupid. where is the factory USB port located? great vid!

    • @MotoPhotoAdventures
      @MotoPhotoAdventures 11 днів тому

      No worries, brother! If you're sitting on the bike, the factory USB port is at the bottom left of the dash. It's kind of underneath and facing outward from the dash console. It's got a little plastic cover over it. So basically it'll appear to be a small rectangular "bump" that sticks out. Just pull that cover off and you'll see the USB port portected underneath. Obviously, if you ride in the rain, you'll want to unplug your device and put that plastic cover back on to keep it water tight. Hope this helps!

    This was exactly what I was looking for with installation and how to use the app before I decided to make a purchase. This video is exactly what I wanted to see to satisfy my curiosity about installation on a bike. I agree with the switch, instead of direct battery installation. But I'm curious about the parked recording that it is capable of doing as well since I do not have a garage to park my bike. So I would have to consider how much battery drainage it would do if I direct wired the device.

    • @MotoPhotoAdventures
      @MotoPhotoAdventures 10 днів тому

      I'm glad our video was helpful! I don't think the parked recording would be a problem for you. I'm pretty sure it can be used whether you install the cameras direct to the battery or to the switched power. The feature can be turned on or off in your app. And it has a power-safety built in. So in theory if you just leave your bike parked for a short time, it will stay active. But if you leave it parked for a long time and it starts to drain your battery to the point that it won't start the bike, that feature will automatically shut off. I haven't played with it since I park in my garage. I'll try to look at it one day next week. But that's how I understand it to work based on the research I did and from reading the manual.

    Best thing I've mounted on my Tuareg is the Michelin Anakee Wild. I run the Rallz rear and dualventure front on my KLR and like them a lot! Tube type up front, the tubeless were great off road but no fun on road. The tubeless and tube type are different. I learned that the hard way.

    • @MotoPhotoAdventures
      @MotoPhotoAdventures 16 днів тому

      Very interesting that the tube/tubeless are different! I've got tubeless front and back and first impressions are VERY positive after 100 miles of curvy country roads, dirt two-lane, sandy trails, and seconday highways.

      I'm sure they make these windscreens to fit as many bike brands and models as possible with minimal changes. They way they save on costs. Plus every rider is a different height, with a different posture. So making minor adjustments to make the bike fit yourself isn't uncommon. For example, I added handlebar risers to mine, and lower footpegs. Do what works best for you!

    After trying out both of those sprocket modifications, would you consider changing out the rear sprocket a "best of both worlds" solution? Or did you prefer just the front 16T sprocket mod? I'm thinking about trying out one of the two mods and I'd really like to get it right the first time. Thanks.

    • @MotoPhotoAdventures
      @MotoPhotoAdventures 16 днів тому

      There's really no "right" or "wrong". It depends so much on your riding style, what terrain you ride the most, what the roads are like in your area, etc. If you ride a lot of off-road, hills, or tight twisties, the stock 15T setup is great. If you do more highway commuting or long-distance trips on pavement, the 16T front sprocket is great. Since I do a bit of both, I found the 15T front and 39T rear was the "best of both worlds". But it's up to each individual! Fortunately, either sprocket swap is cheap and easy to do. So if you don't like it...just change back! Keep in mind, my bike is a 2013. So some of the part numbers I listed may not be correct if you have a CB500X that is 2018 or newer.

    "I'm told that there isn't any loss of torque on the low end" This is false. I have ridden with both the 16 tooth and the factory sprocket and there is indeed a difference. You yourself pointed out how different first gear feels in the video. I ride on and off road and the low end torque on the stock sprocket is just what I need. First and Second gear are perfect for the rough mountain single track I sometimes ride. It is noticeably worse with the 16 tooth sprocket. Last year I took an 8 month 20,000-kilometer trip (12000 miles for the metric confused) and I did a lot of off road riding and crossed a couple of rivers that had no bridges. If you only ride smooth paved roads then the 16 tooth might be for you, but I wonder why you bought a CB500X in the first place. It's sometimes called the "Halfrica Twin" because it is an ADV bike designed for on road and off road use. Longer suspension travel and higher ground clearance for rough roads. You handicap it's off road capability with a 16 tooth sprocket so you can get a bit faster on the highway. If all you do is highway crusing, to me that points to getting a different bike altogether.
